Outdoor Air Temperature Sensor

Thermometrics Outside Air Temperature (OAT) sensors measure the temperature outside the passenger compartment and are usually mounted in or near the front bumper or in the side mirrors. The sensor transmits the outside air temperature to the controller of the automatic HVAC system. The controller uses this temperature to help control the vehicle’s interior temperature. The sensor also provides the vehicle’s occupants with a reading of the temperature outside the vehicle. This information is especially useful when driving in near-freezing or freezing conditions.
